The Hawaii1 is the second pair of sunglasses I have tried from XX2i and, after trying the USA1, I had pretty high expectations. As soon as I put these glasses on for my first run I knew that they would not disappoint.
To begin with, these sunglasses are so incredibly light that you forget you are even wearing them. This was also beneficial because they didn’t have to fit quite so snugly to your head to stay on. I sometimes get a headache from wearing sunglasses too long if they are tighter, so these are an awesome go to for long runs!
The blue lenses are something I really like. They keep you protected from the sun and glare, but they do not feel as dark as “traditional” brown or black sunglasses when you are in dimmer light. If you run anywhere that has occasional or partial shade, you can probably understand why this is a huge perk. I love to wear these for trail runs because I don’t feel like I constantly have to take them off and put them back on every time the level of light changes.
They also worked well keeping the rain out of my eyes when conditions suddenly changed on a run the other day!
Overall, I LOVE these sunglasses and wear them all the time! They also fit under helmets which helps me as an equestrian, but could also be beneficial if your training happens to involve a bike.
The only tiny drawback is that the grippy piece at the end of arms does occasionally get stuck in my hair. With just a little patience it is not a big deal at all, but was a little painful the first time when I just tried to take them off quickly! That said, it certainly hasn’t stopped me from wearing these sunglasses everywhere!
