So I had my baby, now what?

Well y’all, now that I am officially part of the Double BOB gang, it’s time to figure out what comes next.

I’m so ready to get back to running and racing. For me, racing is a big part of self care and it’s great for both my physical and mental health.

If you’ve been following me on Twitter and Instagram, you probably know that I was trying to be ready for the Hot Chocolate 5k in Seattle. (I had a free entry thanks to BibRave and they were incredibly understanding that it was going to possibly be a long shot for me to be able to walk or run 3 miles at that point.) As it turns out that was, unfortunately, not something my body was ready for.

Eloise was born only one day past her due date and it was an easy delivery, but my hip (via my sciatic nerve) didn’t fare so well. As much as I was frustrated by not being able to get back to walking and running as quickly as I wanted, long term ability is a much more important thing. Taking time to get my body actually ready is going to be the right thing in the long run. Pun intended lol.

I’m finally feeling more physically ready to get back to running…which is a great feeling! Of course now there are no races to plan and train for. Again this is totally understandable because there are a lot bigger things happening in the world.

Additionally, I’m coming up on at least one more move, probably before the end of the year. I don’t know where to or when though. For those who don’t know, my husband is in the army and is currently overseas. We don’t know yet what will be happening when he gets back.

Ideally, my goal is to run a 5k in under 30 minutes and I would also like to run my first 50 miler by the time Eloise is 1.

Once I figure out where I’ll be living, I’ll be picking an ultra. For now I’m just running near my house until I can find a trail running buddy.

I think that about sums it up! If you have suggestions for an awesome 50 miler (maybe 100k?!) in December or January drop the race name in the comments!
