Happy Monday! Did you have a good weekend? I am ready for another day off ASAP (which happens to be tomorrow so that is lucky) and a whole pot of coffee.
I managed 11.7 whole miles last week. Once again not exactly what I had hoped for, but it’s something. After the whole tree incident on Tuesday I had to take it a little easy, then I got new shoes Saturday which are 100% different from what I am used to so I am trying not to go to crazy with them right away…because I love my feet and legs and really really need them to love me back!
This week I am kicking off training for The North Face Endurance Challenge 50 miler in Wisconsin (If you want to come run with me, register and use code BIB15 for 15% off any race!). All I can think about is how much better it is going to feel to run in cooler weather. Summer has arrived with a vengeance here in Central Florida and I am struggling to function outside. The one perk of this is actually that I feel it makes me a faster/stronger runner when I finally get to run in cooler and not so humid weather. At least that is what I am sincerely hoping will happen! I haven’t finalized my training plan yet, but I think I am going to be creating my own from a mixture of several different ones I have looked at…I will be sure to share my plan once I know what I am doing!
I am also signed up for the Run For the Gecko 5k this weekend over on the coast. I feel like my shorter runs lately have been reasonably fast without feeling like I am running full out, so I think I am going to aim for my first (official) sub 30 5k…which is totally exciting and nerve wracking all at once! Whether or not I make my goal there will be pancakes, birthday cake AND champagne at the finish so it is a win. But I would really like to do sub 30 haha.
In other fun news, Charlie helped me fix my bike yesterday, so (even though it is NOT a speedy bike) I can pedal around for some cross training since our apartment complex apparently has no intentions of reopening the gym in the near future.
For less fun news, I am off to work for the day.
Have a 50 mile training plan recommendation? Let me know!
Happy Monday 🙂
