Getting proper nutrition for your fitness goals can be challenging for so many reasons. In the past, I have trained for marathons while traveling for months at a time for work. Currently I am training for my first 50 miler while living in a house without a full kitchen. (I have access to a full kitchen but it is shared use and a little overwhelming!) While this means that meals are provided (YAY!) it also means that what I eat is pretty much at the mercy of others. Sometimes this means that fried food is the only option…and as much as I love it, it’s not the best option for improving my fitness level.
Frozen food is a great staple to have on hand when we can’t make it to a meal or it’s not something particularly healthy/appetizing, but frozen meals can often be even worse. As much as I like Hot Pockets, they are not particularly nutritious. I was so excited to try out these meals from Luvo because they do have quality ingredients with actual nutritional value! And as an added bonus they look great!
How great does that look? There is really nothing better than super easy to make comfort food on a rainy day!
The one and only downside of the meals is that the microwave I currently use is low wattage and takes almost twice as long as the package recommends…obviously not Luvo’s fault, but it smells so good it makes waiting hard!
All the meals had a great balance of protein, carbs, and lots of vitamins! There was even a label on the boxes rating how spicy the entrees were. Like many others, I can fall into the trap of assuming that any mass produced “healthy” food is also going to be bland, so I was pretty surprised to find that each meal had a great amount of spice and flavor!
Best of all: microwave veggie lasagna. Who would have ever thought that was possible?! Every single meal was full of great flavor and the chicken melts in your mouth. All this from a microwave meal…which I never thought was possible!
All in all, I HIGHLY recommend trying out the Luvo meals! I am going to be stocking up on more for quick and easy meals when what we are given to eat isn’t quite cutting it. If you find yourself at a loss for healthy meal options when your are short on time or energy, these are a guilt free meal that pretty much cooks itself!
If you have any questions about my experience with the Luvo meals, please let me know! I would love to answer them 🙂
